The Ministry of Foreign Affairs disclosed this in a statement shared on its X handle on Tuesday, noting that the returnees were being sponsored by private individuals.
According to the ministry, the Nigerians will depart Oliver Tambo International Airport, Johannesburg, at 3:30pm local time aboard South African Airways and are expected to arrive at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, at 8:45pm the same day.
The statement read, “The Ministry of Foreign Affairs wishes to inform that another set of 65 Nigerian nationals sponsored by private individuals will depart the Oliver Tambo International Airport, Johannesburg, South Africa on Wednesday 26 August 2026 at 3.30pm local time via South African Airways.
“The expected time of arrival of the returnees at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos is 8.45pm in the evening same day.”
The latest repatriation comes amid reports of xenophobic sentiments, anti-foreigner attacks and discrimination against foreign nationals in South Africa.
It also follows the Federal Government’s announcement last week that 83 Nigerians would be returning from the country.
The latest batch brings renewed attention to the safety and welfare of Nigerians living in South Africa as the government continues to monitor developments.
